Buddy's Buddies Program

In Memoriam to a Wonderful Ambassador for Felines

Buddy passed away at the age of 22 in May 2006 but his legacy still carries on

Buddy was our Client Relations Specialist. He was the handsome, black-haired gentleman who would greet clients as they entered the clinic and could often be seen coaxing them to give him some treats from the jar on the counter in exchange for his help with their debit card transactions.  Buddy had been with the Guildcrest Cat Hospital since he was six years old and preventative health care had helped him live to the ripe age of twenty-two.  Buddy’s mouth was diseased secondary to his diabetes so his teeth were gradually extracted which helped control the diabetes.  He also received insulin injections twice a day and was on daily medication for his arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease; all this care ensuring that he remained healthy and comfortable until the end. Buddy loved all the pats and attention he received from staff and clients and never failed to return the affection tenfold.

Buddy cared so much about other unfortunate stray cats that he decided to set up a fund in his name to help them get the medical care and loving homes that they needed. To this day, the doctors and staff accept stray, abandoned or extraneous cats and kittens on a case-by-case basis, take care of what is medically required and find them the perfect home. Anyone who is interested in meeting one of these deserving felines can contact the clinic directly or take a look at our Purrfectly Irresistible adoption page.

Buddy has since passed the torch on to Jasper Jujubes, another cat who lost her home. She has been with the clinic since January 2008 and at the beginning, needed a lot of work from the doctors and staff to feel comfortable around people again. Thanks to them, she is now usually found with her head in someone's bag or perched atop their food purchases until the demands for chin scratches have been met. Of course, there is still some 'cattitude' that pops up now and then but that's our Jasper!
