The Beginning
Sweetie came to our clinic on the eve of July 8th when a concerned neighbour found her left behind when her owners moved away. After a thorough examination Dr. Stewart found that not only was Sweetie healthy, but that she was also pregnant! Sweetie was admitted into the Buddy’s Buddies program so that the staff could ensure her wellbeing and the wellbeing of her soon to arrive kittens.
Without knowing Sweetie’s age exactly or when she became pregnant, the doctors palpated her abdomen and estimated a late July delivery. This page is a journal to document her pregnancy and the growth of the kittens when they finally arrive.

Ready and Waiting
After only a few short days Sweetie was fully adjusted to the room provided for her and eagerly greeted all who came to see and pet her. As she prepared for the arrival of her kittens she made sure to eat a lot of food and take things easy. Her belly continued to grow and even her paws increased in size to support all the weight.
July 14th

As you can see her belly is quite large as the kittens inside begin to grow!
The Big Day finally Arrives!
On July 23rd around 4pm our Sweetie went into labour and two hours later she had given birth to four beautiful kittens. Most of the kittens are black in colour but have some white and one kitten does take on more of Sweetie's colouring.

The first kitten born begins to nurse! Shortly after the second is born and begins nursing too!

The babies on the second day All hudling together!
On the second day Dr. Alvarez examined Sweetie and her children and gave them all a clean bill of health! There are three girls and one boy. As they continue to grow we will take pictures and post them here so make sure you come back!
Seeing with Newly Opened Eyes!
(3 weeks old)
Around the 11th of August the kittens began opening their eyes! We had to put a towel around their bed to ensure that only a little light managed to get in. We've taken some pictures but we couldn't use the flash because we didn't want to hurt their eyes, so we apologize that the photos are so blurry.

Starting to Walk
(4 weeks old)
The kittens have slowly started using their legs and exploring their room. They're still not too sure on their feet but they're getting better each day! They have also been named! Eeny. Meeny, Miney and Moe.
Eeny and Miney were the first to explore.
This is Eeny- she has a distinctive white strip on her back.

Miney- Miney is mostly black with a few white markings. She also has a completely black nose.

Look how Big we've Grown!
(5 weeks)
Now that we're five weeks old and our eyes have adapted to the lights we're okay to have photos taken of us!
Moe- The only boy of the group

Home Sweet Home
As soon as they were old enough to get adopted Miney and Moe found a wonderful home with one of our younger clients. Her mother took Sweetie home and her cousin took home Eeny and Meeny. They all still get to see each other and get along great! |
