Lorraine Day - Veterinary Technician

I arrived at the Guildcrest Cat Hospital in the year 2004 after seeing an opening in the Toronto Sun. During my years here, I learned more about feline care then I ever thought possible, especially in the technical field. Despite the amount of knowledge I already attained, there is always something new to learn. To keep abreast of changing techniques and information I attend at least five seminars and conferences a year.
On a normal day at the clinic I can often be found in the back of the clinic caring for the felines that are here for a surgery or who came to have some routine blood work or urine taken. I've learned so much about cats that I am able to handle them with ease, and even calm them down. The other girls have even called me a 'cat whisperer' though I don't know if I'd go that far!
At home I have a wonderful female cat named Bootsy. She was rescued from the Ontario SPCA and as soon as I saw her it was love at first sight. When I walked into the room I will never forget how we met. As soon as I saw her she elegantly reached out her paw through the cage and reached right into my heart.
When I have some spare time and the weather permits, I enjoy taking country drives; admiring in the scenery and checking out antique stores when I come across them. I also spend time doing craft work such as sewing, knitting and even redecorating.
Here's a photo of Bootsy enjoying a nap in her hammock.
